I had the opportunity to serve as the supervisor for Amalia during 2019-2020 at St. Patrick’s Catholic School school year, resulting in the on-site building closure due to the pandemic. During the many challenges she faced I observed an administrator that remained positive and stayed focused on her mission as the leader of the building, whose purpose was to provide the best support and optimal learning environment that she could to all her staff and students.

Amalia not only had to learn budgeting and resource allocation in the private sector but also how to best work with a number of stakeholder groups that were dissimilar to those found in the public school arena. She did so as a professional and demonstrated that she was willing to learn and listen and also, to lead. Amalia has all of the tools to be a quite effective leader, not the least being her very strong instructional background and her passion, knowledge, and advocacy for ALL students, especially second language learners.

It is my greatest pleasure to recommend, Amalia. As an administrator for the past thirteen years in multiple districts I have had the opportunity to work with many outstanding leaders.  I first had the pleasure of working with Amalia as a teacher and EL Coordinator.  I was so impressed with her strong leadership skills and commitment to her school, students, and fellow teachers. 

Her school, fellow teachers, and staff are better because of the incredible work that Amalia did above and beyond being an incredible teacher to her students.  She was also a facilitator where she worked collaboratively with her PLC Team and worked to develop leadership in others.  In addition to this she coached Cross Country and worked with the Athletic Director to grow her program.  I am incredibly proud of Amalia and believe she is an example of excellence in education. She has a sense of humor and ability to stay the course when things seem overwhelming.  These are all qualities that have helped make Amalia a strong leader and will allow her to continue to grow in this profession.  She works calmly in difficult situations and is able to focus on problem solving rather than emotions.  She sees people as individuals and treats all with respect.  Because of all these things, I have the highest regard for Amalia and a strong belief in her capabilities.

It is my pleasure to recommend Amalia. During the time that she worked for my company, I found her to be dependable, creative and persistent. (I know that her passion is in education, but I have always regretted that we were unable to retain her on our staff.)

Amalia’s position in our firm was that of Finance Manager. In this role she was the liaison between the dealership and our lenders. Trustworthiness and ethics were the cornerstones of this relationship, and we were fortunate to have Amalia perform this role.

Amalia was also the final contact that our sales customers had at the dealership during the purchase of an automobile. In this role, she had to be (and was) personable, persistent and discreet. Amalia worked as part of a two-person team and was a very good team player.

I hold a weekly meeting with all of my leadership team members. Amalia was an excellent contributor to these meetings – she added a hard-to-find blend of professionalism and spunk.
